The Contrabart ALPG Players' Championship is Australia's third largest professional ladies tournament on the ALPG Tour. First held at Horizons Golf Resort in February 2002, the tournament attracted an outstanding field of some of the world's best professional lady golfers including 68 international players that compete on the European and US circuits as well as Australia's most elite and up and coming professional players including Laura Davies, Jane Crafter, Paula Marti, Karin Icher, Wendy Doolan, Rachel Teske and Karen Pearce.
The 2003 Championship was a four day event which took place from Thursday 13 February to Sunday 16 February 2003. 132 of the world's leading Australian and international players returned to compete in the Contrabart ALPG Players' Championship including Paula Marti (defending champion), Laura Davies, Sophie Gustafson, Rachel Teske, Lynette Brooky, Maria Hjorth, Joanne Morley, Johanna Head, Karine Icher, Corinne Dibnah and many more. A large crowd witnessed Victorian Rookie Tamara Hyett endure the full gamut of emotions during the final round of the Championship by eventually winning her maiden title at the first extra hole against England's Laura Davies. In a play-of Hyett birdied the 18th for the fourth time during the Championship and Davies' attempt to extend sudden death slipped agonisingly past the hole. Hyett carded a final round, three over par 76, for an 11 under total to claim the $15,000 winners' cheque. 2003 Contrabart ALPG Players' Championship Information
