Byrnes Makes Cut in Weetabix Women's British Open

Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes has progressed to round three in the 1.05 million pound Weetabix Women’s British Open being played at Royal Lytham and St Anne’s Golf Club, Lancashire until Sunday, 3 August 2003 with rounds of one under par 71 and three over par 75 and is sitting in tied 46th position

Byrnes teed off early to commence play with a bogie on the 1st and 3rd holes but settled quickly resulting in a round of 15 pars and 3 bogies which left her at the end of round 2 with two over par and tied 46th position. The cut was made at three over with 68 players progressing to round 3 which includes six Australians. Leading Australian is defending champion, Karrie Webb who is sitting in tied 4th position with rounds of 67 and 72, five under par.

American Heather Bowie is sitting in first position with eight under par and leads by two shots from Korean Se Ri Pak who had a 69 and first round co-leader Wendy Ward (USA), who had a 71. Three times champion Karrie Webb, who began the day tied with Ward, carded two bogies and an eagle three at the 15th to remain on five under par. She shares fourth place alongside Patricia Meunier Lebouc (France), Akkiko Fukushima (Japan), Mexican Lorena Ochoa and Korean Grace Park, both of whom now share the course record of 65.

Byrnes will tee off in round three at 9.30am in the Weetabix Women’s British Open.
