Media releases Day Two 2003 Mazda NSW Trainee Championship at Horizons Wednesday, 6 August 2003 The expected windy conditions hit Horizons Golf Resort today making scoring very tough for round two of the $40,000 2003 Mazda NSW Trainee Championship. Greg McConnell (VIC) had the day’s low round of 5 under par 67 and he will take a 4 shot lead from fellow Victorian Martin Joyce going into round 3. Overnight leader Scott Fisher (NSW) is a further shot back on a 2 under par total of 142. Defending Champion Danny Vera had another 2 over par round of 74 today to be 11 shots off the lead. Vera is trying to become the only trainee ever to win three consecutive NSW Trainee Championships. The 2003 Mazda NSW Trainee Championship is contested over 72 holes. Horizons trainee, Luke Maga made the cut with rounds of 80 and 79 and will tee off tomorrow at 7.08am and is looking to finish in the top 20 for the Championship.
