Media releases Day Three 2003 Mazda NSW Trainee Championship at Horizons Thursday, 7 August 2003 Perfect scoring conditions were welcomed by players on day three of the 2003
Mazda NSW Trainee Championship at Horizons Golf Resort today. Victorian trainee
Martin Joyce has opened a six shot lead on the field after shooting the days low
round of 68 to finish on a three round total of 209, 7 under par. Female trainee
Kate Leyshon (NSW) booked her spot in the final group tomorrow after shooting a
fine 3 under par round of 69 today. Overnight leader Greg McConnell (VIC) could
only manage an 81 today to sit nine shots from the lead. Defending Champion Danny Vera had his third consecutive two over par round of
74 today and would seemingly be out of contention to defend last year’s
Championship title. Vera was trying to become the only trainee ever to win three
consecutive NSW Trainee Championships. The final round of the Championship commences tomorrow from 7.00 am with the
