Media releases Final Results in BT Ladies Open Monday, 18 August 2003 Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes shot a two over par 74 and a seven over 79 to miss the cut in the 150,000 pound BT Ladies Open being played at Warrenpoint Golf Club in Northern Ireland over the weekend. In round one Byrnes had 3 birdies, 12 pars, 2 bogies and struck trouble on the par four 5th with a three over par seven. Round two Byrnes hit 2 birdies, 11 pars, 3 bogies, 1 double bogie and found difficulty on the par three 6th. Sweden’s Sophie Gustafson with rounds of 66, 69, 68 and 72 snared her second Irish victory with one of the most dramatic finishes of the year with a 13 under par to take out the 22,500 pound first prize. One shot behind, Alison Nicholas (England) fired rounds of 67, 69, 67 and 73 and led for most of the day but Gustafson had two brilliant final holes, including an eagle to take out the BT Ladies Open. Joanne Mills was the highest placed Australian with rounds of 73, 72, 74 and 73.. Byrnes will next compete in the 1st sectional for 2004 LPGA Qualifying from 26-29 August at Plantation Golf and Country Club, Venice, Florida where the top 30 players at each sectional qualifier advance to the final qualifying tournament to be held on 21-24 October at the LPGA International, Legends Course, Daytona Beach, Florida.
