Byrnes Remains Tied 6th in 2004 LPGA Tour Final Qualifying Tournament

Thursday, 23 October 2003

Horizons Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Cherie Byrnes continues her solid form by firing a one under par 71 to remain in tied 6th position after the second round of the final qualifying stage for the 2004 LPGA Tour being held at the LPGA International Legends Course, Daytona, Florida.

Byrnes’ one under par followed a first round 69 on LPGA International’s 6,443 yard Legends Course and is four shots from the leader, Diana D’Alessio who carded 66 and 70 (-8). The 131-player field will be cut to the low 70 players and ties following the third round. A total of 28 exempt spots on the 2004 LPGA Tour are up for grabs and a sudden-death playoff will be held to determine the 28th spot if needed. The next 35 finishers and ties will earn non-exempt status for 2004.

Byrnes said “The conditions today were hot and a little breezy but I managed to hit all but one fairway and 17 greens in regulation and my putting was really solid. I will head out in the third round at 8.30am after the field is re-paired according to scores”.
