Le Meilleur Horizons 3rd Year Apprentice Takes Bronze at State Awards

Le Meilleur Horizons Golf Resort third year apprentice Bowen Weeks was awarded “Bronze” in the Grand Final of the HTN & MLA Apprentice Chef’s Culinary Competition held at Ultimo TAFE College on Saturday, 27 August 2005.  Bowen progressed to the grand final after winning gold from the Hunter regional heat and competed against HTN apprentice chefs from NSW, QLD and ACT.

 

During the competition Bowen was required to prepare two entrées, mains and desserts and was judged on personal presentation, work flow, culinary skills, kitchen hygiene and creativity, portion size, nutritional balance, flavours and visual presentation within a timed period. 

 

Bowen was awarded with a bronze plaque, $125 in prize money and a knife and sharpening kit for his efforts.

 

Bowen said “This is my first state award and I was extremely happy with my efforts as it was amongst a highly competitive field of the State’s best apprentice chefs”.

 

Le Meilleur Horizons Director, Ryan Kang said “This is an excellent result for an extremely talented third year apprentice and is a reflection of the high standard of staff we have at Le Meilleur Horizons Golf Resort”.
