Le Meilleur Horizons Golf Resort To Host National Amputee Championships

The Australian Amputee Golf Open will be contested at Le Meilleur Horizons from March 19 culminating in a presentation dinner with special guest Brett Ogle on Friday March 23.

 

This event is the first time in the events four year history that it is being played in NSW, the previous three tournaments have been held at the Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club.

 

Inaugural winner Geoff Nicholas playing of a handicap of two will be playing alongside two time champion Shane Luke. Amongst others in the field to watch include 2006 NSW and QLD open champion Stephen Prior.

 

The event also features numerous special contenders including Sid Henderson (Double below knee amputee) playing in his 3rd championship and Ben Tullipan a Bali bombing victim playing for the first time.

 

Richard Jumrukovski, Le Meilleur Horizons head professional is looking forward to welcoming the players to the resort, “The tournament is shaping up to be an excellent week of golf, the players in this tournament are an inspiration to all players of the game, to have the determination and perseverance to continue with the game and achieve quality results even when the game can get frustrating.”

 

Event Organiser Steve Smith said “Our association is run to involve amputees in the great game of golf with an approach of being involved with a group of people that have suffered a similar obstacle in what life can dish out.”

 

Tee times are from 10am daily during the week, with the draws announced the week prior to the event.
